Estée Lauder

On October 14, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced the opening of its new hub, La Maison des Parfums, on Rue Volney in Paris’s 2nd arrondissement. At the heart of this new facility lies the Fragrance Atelier, an advanced research and innovation center that marks a major step in the company’s commitment to the future of perfumery.

Launched under the high patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron, the Paris flagship serves as a global innovation hub designed to accelerate Estée Lauder’s growth in the luxury and prestige fragrance sectors.

A Hub Where the Art and Science of Fragrance Converge

Spanning 2,000 square meters across five floors, La Maison des Parfums unites the creative, marketing, and product development teams from Estée Lauder’s leading fragrance houses — including Jo Malone London, Le Labo, Tom Ford, Kilian Paris, and Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle — into one integrated space, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The facility was designed to strengthen Estée Lauder’s global research and innovation network, which spans the United States, China (Shanghai), Europe (Belgium), and Canada (Toronto). By connecting these global R&I centers, the Paris Atelier centralizes consumer insights and technical expertise from markets worldwide, optimizing every stage from research to product creation. Situated in the historic heart of perfumery, the new Atelier serves as a core hub linking creativity and science within the company’s global innovation strategy.

Inside the facility, a multi-layered environment merges cutting-edge technology with sensory exploration. It features AI-powered fragrance development laboratories, olfactory and neuroscience modeling rooms, CO₂ supercritical extraction and GCMS molecular analysis facilities, and a “Music Room” — a sensory space designed to stimulate creativity and emotion.

Driving Growth Through Technological Innovation

“It is with great pride and excitement that we open our Fragrance Atelier in Paris,” said Stéphane de La Faverie, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Estée Lauder Companies.

“Building on our incredible heritage of creativity and innovation, the Atelier will propel our future growth in this dynamic category. In the cradle of perfumery, our teams will combine state-of-the-art technology, data-driven intelligence, and olfactive expertise to craft the next generation of extraordinary scents for consumers around the world.”

De La Faverie also emphasized that the Atelier will serve as a “growth engine” driving innovation across Estée Lauder’s entire fragrance portfolio. Through the integration of AI and neuroscience, the company aims to significantly shorten development timelines—from research to formulation—and build a more agile framework capable of responding swiftly to evolving consumer trends.
