On October 14, U.S.-based luxury resale giant FASHIONPHILE, headquartered in San Diego, announced the acquisition of the intellectual property, customer database, and social media assets of the UK’s popular resale brand Luxe Collective. With this move, the company officially launched its new business in the UK under the name FASHIONPHILE UK.
From the World’s First “Ultra-Luxury Recommerce” Brand to a Global Powerhouse
Founded in 1999, FASHIONPHILE emerged as the world’s first “ultra-luxury recommerce brand.” Today, it has grown into the largest luxury resale platform in the United States, specializing in handbags and accessories from top maisons such as Chanel, Hermès, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton.
With its instant buyout model, high-precision authentication, and extensive inventory, the company continues to lead the resale industry. In 2019, it became the exclusive recommerce partner of Neiman Marcus, further strengthening its presence in the high-end retail space.
Luxe Collective’s Rapid Rise — and Its Path to Revival
Founded in the UK in 2018, Luxe Collective quickly became one of the most influential resale brands in the country, driven by its distinctive cultural voice and strong community. However, after a high-value theft incident last year, the company faced severe financial difficulties and was forced to cease operations.
Following the acquisition, FASHIONPHILE has relaunched the Luxe Collective website under the name LuxeCollectiveFashion.com, introducing a new UK platform for buying and selling ultra-luxury pre-owned accessories — bringing fresh value to the UK market.
This marks FASHIONPHILE’s first full-scale expansion into the UK and European markets and represents a major strategic step toward realizing its vision of becoming “the world’s most trusted and sought-after brand for ultra-luxury accessories.”
“Bringing a New Scale to the UK Market”
Ben Hemminger, Co-Founder and CEO of FASHIONPHILE, commented: “This acquisition allows us to combine Luxe Collective’s cultural influence and strong community with FASHIONPHILE’s scale, technology, and authentication expertise. Moving forward, Luxe Collective’s co-founders Ben and Joe Gallagher will join the FASHIONPHILE UK leadership team. The existing Luxe Collective social media channels will be rebranded as FASHIONPHILE Collective, and the company plans to open a flagship authentication center and store in London. The UK arm will also begin offering direct buyout services, providing customers with a more seamless and premium resale experience.

Joe Gallagher, who will serve as Director of Operations at FASHIONPHILE UK, stated: “FASHIONPHILE shares our vision for the future of luxury resale in the UK. With their technology, scale, and support, we can now realize that vision on a much larger scale.”

From North America to Europe
The acquisition is part of FASHIONPHILE’s broader global omnichannel strategy.
In 2023, the company acquired the brand assets of LXRandCo, Inc., one of Canada’s leading luxury resale companies, to strengthen its B2B wholesale operations in North America. In 2024, it expanded further with the acquisition of Montreal-based Two Authenticators Inc. (2a), an authenticated vintage distributor, bringing in industry veteran Fred Mannella as Head of Wholesale.
Through these strategic moves, FASHIONPHILE continues to build an international resale network spanning North America and Europe, further solidifying its position as a global leader in luxury recommerce.
