On November 5, Balmain announced the end of its partnership with Olivier Rousteing, who has served as the house’s Creative Director since 2011.
In a statement, Rachid Mohamed Rachid, CEO of Mayhoola and Chairman of Balmain, expressed his deep gratitude: “We are sincerely grateful for Olivier’s outstanding contribution. His visionary leadership not only redefined the boundaries of fashion but also inspired a new generation through bold creativity, authenticity, and an unshakable belief in inclusivity. We are proud of everything accomplished under his direction.”
As Rachid’s words suggest, Rousteing has spent over a decade balancing Balmain’s heritage with contemporary evolution, reshaping the house’s DNA for a new era.
Matteo Sgarbossa, Balmain’s current CEO, also praised Rousteing’s impact, stating: “Olivier has written an essential chapter in Balmain’s history. His passion and contribution will remain an indelible part of fashion history.”
Reflecting on his departure, Rousteing said: “I am proud of everything we’ve achieved over these 14 years and deeply grateful to my team, my family. Balmain has always been my home. As I move forward to a new creative chapter, I will forever hold this time close to my heart.”
A new creative leadership structure at Balmain will be announced in due course.
