On January 14, Italian fashion brand Diesel announced the appointment of Andrea Rigogliosi as its new Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Rigogliosi will report directly to Ubaldo Minelli, CEO of parent company OTB Group.
For Diesel, this appointment marks the first permanent CEO in nearly three years, following the departure of Eraldo Poletto in 2023. The move signals a renewed effort to stabilise the brand’s management structure and transition into its next phase of growth.
Growing Cultural Relevance Under Glenn Martens
Since 2020, Diesel has undergone a significant brand repositioning under the creative direction of Glenn Martens. While preserving its core DNA rooted in provocation and democratic values, the brand has redefined its presence within the fashion landscape, gaining renewed momentum—particularly among younger generations.
Commenting on this evolution, Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel and Chairman of OTB Group, stated in the official press release: “Diesel is a magical brand, which I founded, and that has always represented a unique force in the fashion landscape. Glenn Martens’ creative direction has transformed it, rediscovering its most authentic DNA and making the brand fresher, more contemporary, and increasingly loved by younger generations. Today, Diesel can be considered the only alternative to the luxury world, embodying values such as inclusivity and accessibility—particularly significant in a complex moment for the entire fashion industry. Recently, I have closely followed the brand’s development with a team of managers, while we navigated a challenging market phase. I am delighted to welcome Andrea to Diesel, and, together with the team, I am sure that he will further enhance Diesel’s potential at a crucial stage in the brand’s evolution.”
Leadership Experience Across Luxury and Retail
Andrea Rigogliosi brings extensive international leadership experience across the luxury, fashion, and retail sectors. Most recently, he served as Global Head of Retail and Commercial at Miu Miu, part of the Prada Group, where he led global business growth and the expansion of the brand’s distribution network.
Prior to that, he held several senior roles within the LVMH Group, including President Europe at Fendi, as well as General Manager positions for France & Monaco and Italy at Christian Dior Couture. Earlier in his career, he gained management experience at Poltrona Frau Group and within the luxury division of L’Oréal.
Rigogliosi holds a degree in International Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.
Toward Management Stability and Sustainable Growth
Over the past decade, Diesel has experienced frequent leadership changes at the CEO level, raising concerns around operational continuity. While OTB Group does not disclose sales figures by brand, Diesel recorded revenue growth in 2024 on a constant-exchange-rate basis.
Rigogliosi’s appointment represents a strategic step toward reinforcing managerial stability while building on a clearly defined creative vision. How Diesel will translate its positioning as “an alternative to the luxury world” into sustained business growth under this new leadership will be closely watched by the industry.
