Dior has unveiled a unique and special capsule collection, “Dior & Otani Workshop,” a collaboration between Creative Director Kim Jones and renowned Japanese contemporary artist Otani Workshop.
The star of the collection is a small green monster created by renowned sculptor Otani Workshop. The little green monsters appear on various items in the capsule collection, subtly complementing items such as oversized sweaters, bomber jackets, T-shirts, and accessories.
Dior’s iconic design elements blend seamlessly to create a perfect unity. The diagonal toile pattern incorporates shades of burgundy and pink, while the traditional Dior logo is creatively reimagined. Accentuating the brand’s luxurious status, the “Christian Dior Couture” tag is featured on a variety of items including relaxed pants.
In addition, this collection also features a limited quantity of B33 tennis sneakers, which fans should not miss out on.
Founded in 2005, Otani Workshop is the birthplace of a remarkable new wave of Japanese ceramic artists. Since beginning his career in the late 00s, he has built a reputation to this day for his ability to successfully blend traditional artistic techniques with contemporary aesthetics.
Over the past few seasons, “Quiet Luxury” has become a trend in the fashion industry, focusing on understated elegance, and it is refreshing to see Dior deviate from this somber tone under Jones’ guidance. The unique playfulness of the Otani Workshop is in harmony with Dior’s sophisticated style, and this collection reminds us how interesting fashion can be.
