On March 2, fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus received the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (a knighthood of the arts and literature) from Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue USA.
The award ceremony was held at the Maison’s new premises in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. It was an intimate ceremony with only a small circle of close friends, family, and fashion celebrities.
Among those in attendance were Jacquemus’ husband, Marco Maestri, his grandmother Laetitia Casta, designer Jeanne Damas, and Delphine Arnault of the LVMH group, which had been trying to acquire the Maison since its inception.
Jacquemus, who began his career in 2009, truly embodies the power of perseverance and passion. Anna Wintour, who presented the award, also praised his talent and determination and commended his unusual path that led to such early recognition.
In presenting this prestigious award, Jacquemus also took the opportunity to call for the vitality of young creations. They stressed the importance of nurturing and encouraging new talent in the fashion industry.
