On June 29, beneath the stately arches of the Orangerie at the Palace of Versailles, Simon Porte Jacquemus presented his Spring/Summer 2026 collection as the grand finale of Paris Fashion Week Menswear.

Titled Le Paysan—“The Peasant”—the collection is a heartfelt ode to the designer’s southern French roots. Bathed in the warmth of Provençal sun and memory, Jacquemus delicately revived fragments of his rural upbringing through the lens of couture, reinterpreting them into garments that feel both intimate and elevated.

This was not a simple act of nostalgia. Rather, it was a poetic requiem woven from the threads of memory—an emotional narrative told through fabric. The vibrancy of vegetables harvested by his grandparents, the soft scent of freshly ironed linen on quiet Sunday afternoons, and the understated elegance of his grandmother’s wardrobe—all of these recollections quietly breathed life at the intersection of tradition and modernity.

From Stillness to Bloom: A Story in Motion

The show opened with a barefoot boy in white running across the venue to open the grand doors—a symbol of Jacquemus himself as a child, inviting us into his world.

The early looks featured plain linen, milky-white poplin, voluminous skirts with hidden structure, and gossamer silk dresses that gently kissed the skin. Stripped of ornamentation, these pieces told a story of quietude through fabric and silhouette alone.

Then, like the first blush of spring, pastel stripes, airy lemon-yellow looks, embroidery, and delicate dotted motifs entered the scene. As Jacquemus described on Instagram, this was “a journey that begins with linen and gradually blossoms into candy-colored prints and couture.” The collection unfolded like a poetic progression—soft, sensory, and increasingly exuberant.

Quiet Luxury Rooted in Craft

What set this collection apart was not loud spectacle, but rather the whispered precision of craftsmanship. A tulle dress made from 700 meters of cord, a white crocheted gown, and tassels adorned with hand-applied bobbin lace revealed layers of artistry beneath the minimalist surface.

These garments were far from theatrical. Instead, they were grounded in the real pieces that could live in the wardrobe while still carrying a dreamlike quality. A voluminous overskirt layered atop a crisp white shirtdress, for example, evoked the gentle poetry of a refined rural life, leaving a quiet yet lasting impression.

Accessories and Menswear Paint a “Pastoral Fantasy”

Accessories played a key role in bringing Jacquemus’ pastoral fantasy to life. Straw- and rosemary-textured bags, leather-crafted garlic and leek garlands, and striped candy-shaped purses felt as though they had been plucked straight from a southern French market. They weren’t just whimsical—they told stories.

Among the most memorable menswear looks was a white pinstripe suit paired with a leather leek carried like a harvest, portraying the modern farmer straddling city and countryside. These were not just outfits, but characters brought to life.

Menswear styling leaned close to the skin: translucent lemon-yellow tops, soft wrap-knit jackets, and relaxed tailoring in shorts suits and softly cinched black ensembles. One standout included a gray wool suit topped with a flat cap, evoking nostalgia and timeless masculinity.

Across all looks ran a thread of tactile honesty—an echo of “working hands” and “loving eyes.” Practicality and poetry coexisted, layered like fields of memory. There was something deeply human, tender, and quietly hopeful in the way these clothes moved and breathed.

A Return to Roots, Without Losing the Future

This season marked not just another poetic rendition of Jacquemus’ beloved South of France, but a deeper, more mature embodiment of his identity. It was a collection that reflected the designer’s growth as both a business and creative force, without ever forgetting where it all began.

It was a homecoming. A reimagining. A love letter stitched with sunlight, memory, and meaning.
