Uniqlo will team up with Finnish brand Marimekko for the first time in six years to launch a limited-edition collection on New Year’s Day 2024.
The collection, titled “New Year 2024 UNIQLO x Marimekko Limited Edition Collection,” will showcase four beloved patterns created by renowned Marimekko designers Maija Isola and Penti Rinta. The “Kivet,” “Kissapöllö,” “Seireeni,” and “Hattara” patterns, which will be featured on winter accessories and apparel, are all inspired by Nordic nature, with soothing shades of pearl gray, gold, and black that capture the beauty of the winter landscape.
The lineup includes five women’s models and four kids’ models. Among the additions are a thick, relaxed-cut fleece jacket in a beige base layered with cream-colored dots, and a reimagined version of UNIQLO’s Round Mini Shoulder Bag, which created a buzz on social media this year.
The collection will be available at both UNIQLO’s physical stores and online at uniqlo.com from January 1.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Marimekko once again,” said Yukihiro Katsuta, head of research and development, Uniqlo. “The latest line combines Uniqlo’s signature simplicity with Marimekko’s beautiful prints inspired by Nordic nature and wildlife. The collection is designed to be enjoyed with family and friends and is perfect for staying warm. I hope everyone can enjoy this special collection available for a limited time only.”
Sanna-Kaisa Niikko, Marimekko’s chief marketing officer, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming limited-edition collaboration collection with Uniqlo. “We are excited to reunite with Uniqlo for this new limited-edition collaboration collection that brings together Marimekko’s art of printmaking with Uniqlo’s commitment to create high-quality clothing that is functional and democratic for everyone’s daily lifestyle,”
Marimekko and UNIQLO entered into their first partnership in 2018 and have since launched six limited-edition collaborations. According to Marimekko, these brand collaborations have contributed significantly to Marimekko’s international brand recognition and are expected to support the company’s growth strategy.
