Israeli-born and Paris-based designer Hed Mayner has been selected as the second guest designer for the upcoming Pitti Immagine Uomo 109, which will take place in Florence, Italy, from January 13 to 16, 2026. For this special occasion, Mayner will present an exclusive runway show, bringing his distinctive aesthetic to the historic city of Florence.
The Intersection of Body and Structure: The World of Hed Mayner
Known for his architectural yet poetic approach to contemporary fashion, Hed Mayner was born into an artistic family—his mother a painter and his father a metalworker. From an early age, he developed a deep sensitivity to form and material. At sixteen, he discovered his passion for fashion, teaching himself the fundamentals of craftsmanship through work with leather, jewelry, and hand-stitching. Later, he honed his technical expertise at Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) in Paris, where he developed a personal design language that merges precise tailoring with liberated construction.
Under his eponymous label, HED MAYNER, the designer explores fluid materials and generous silhouettes, reinterpreting sacred, traditional, and everyday garments—alongside military tailoring and sportswear—through a modern lens. At the core of his work lies the concept of the “body” as a universal theme, presenting a timeless wardrobe that transcends gender and cultural boundaries.
In 2019, Mayner received the Karl Lagerfeld Prize from the LVMH Group, earning critical acclaim as a regular name on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar. His collections, produced in Italy, are available at some of the world’s most renowned retailers, including Dover Street Market, United Arrows, Galeries Lafayette, and Antonia. His work has also been featured in prestigious international publications such as Vogue, Numéro, The New York Times, Encens, and Vanity Fair.
In recent years, Mayner has expanded his creative scope, serving as the Creative Director of Footwear at Reebok, exploring a new realm that bridges sport and high fashion.
Francesca Tacconi, Special Events Coordinator at Pitti Immagine, commented on the designer’s selection:
“Creating is thinking with your hands. That’s what Hed Mayner’s collections seem to whisper. At the heart of his vision lies the body – the common denominator between attitude, movement, fit and individual taste. His is a conceptual, almost architectural approach, in open dialogue with the fluidity of the present.
Strength and lightness, craftsmanship and tailoring merge in garments that appear to rest effortlessly on the body, yet are charged with physicality. Clothes that defy convention – of gender, of context, even of gravity – interpreting sculptural and oversized forms. Hed never ceases to surprise us with the delicate balance he achieves in every piece, without any apparent effort, through contrasts: poetry and comfort, freedom and precision, intellect and craftsmanship.
For all these reasons and more, we can’t wait to welcome Hed Mayner to Pitti Uomo this January and discover the project he is creating for his Florentine debut.”
Indeed, Mayner’s work embodies a quiet strength — a serene yet forceful presence that explores the harmony between the body and the mind through fashion.
His selection as guest designer for Pitti Uomo symbolizes a new chapter that bridges tradition and modernity.
Expressing his excitement, Mayner stated, “I would like to thank Pitti Uomo for their invitation to present my new collection in January. It is a great honor to be a part of Pitti, which represents a genuine support for creativity, and I am so excited to be able to show my work in such an amazingly rich and historical city like Florence. This new context will encourage me to try new things.”
The first guest designer for Pitti Uomo 109 has been announced as Soshi Otsuki, the Japanese designer behind the brand SOSHIOTSUKI.
