Ann Demeulemeester

Belgian fashion brand Ann Demeulemeester unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 Pre-Collection on June 25. Under the creative direction of Stefano Gallici, the season takes travel and research as its starting point, conceived as a collection that enters into dialogue with the main collection set to be presented in October.

Summary

  • Ann Demeulemeester unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 Pre-Collection, conceived as a dialogue with the main collection set to be presented in October.
  • Inspired by travel, research, and garments and objects encountered along the way, the collection carries forward the house’s signatures while introducing new creative directions.
  • Structured tailoring, aviator jackets, and Edwardian-inspired slip dresses bring softer, more relaxed silhouettes into the wardrobe.
  • Neutral tones, pink florals, brown leather, denim, and layered textures merge the brand’s heritage with a renewed contemporary expression.

Memories Gathered Through Travel Become a New Creative Language

Rather than drawing from a specific historical period or muse, the collection is shaped by garments and objects encountered through travel, as well as fragments of experience and memory. Together, these references form a personal landscape that opens new creative directions.

The idea of a wardrobe remains central to the collection. Seen as a space where past and present coexist, it brings back silhouettes and design codes that have long defined the house, while also introducing the first signs of a new seasonal evolution.

“Approaching this Spring/Summer 2027 Pre-Collection felt different from the way I have developed the previous ones. I wanted to place it within the same mindscape and emotional context as the collection that will be presented in October, allowing both narratives to evolve in parallel and engage in a dialogue with one another,” says Stefano Gallici.

Carrying Forward Iconic Elements While Introducing New Silhouettes

The collection continues to explore signature pieces such as hussar jackets, leather biker jackets, bohemian shirts, and bias-cut long dresses. At the same time, it reflects a conscious desire to avoid repetition, bringing new references into the wardrobe.

Tailoring becomes more structured, with slimmer proportions and subtly flared silhouettes. Aviator jackets are introduced as part of an ongoing exploration of outerwear, while fluid Edwardian-inspired slip dresses replace the Victorian sensibility of previous seasons, expressing a softer and more relaxed romanticism.

Denim, Leather, and Delicate Textures Define the Seasonal Mood

The color palette acts as a bridge between what has come before and what lies ahead. Neutral tones are illuminated by pink through floral prints and dévoré jacquards, while brown and white pinstripes are paired with rich brown leather, recalling the archetypes of aviator jackets and boots.

Denim also plays a central role, appearing in light blue and yellow-stained washes across flared silhouettes and front-zip workwear jackets. Black moves through the wardrobe from Japanese cottons to luminous satins, while whites shift between ivory, chalk, and ecru, creating layered compositions of silk chiffons, textured poplins, and paper-thin jerseys.
