Met Gala

The day of this year’s Met Gala is approaching. This grand event dubbed the biggest celebration in the fashion world, is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 1.

The opening event, which celebrates the annual special exhibition by The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, has been organized since 1995 by Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue.

The gala is completely invitation-only, and approximately 600 celebrities, fashion icons, and luminaries will gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the day of the event. Reportedly, tickets to attend start at $30,000 per person, and seat fees are estimated at approximately $275,000. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the activities of the Costume Institute.

Guests attending Met Gala are given a dress code each year based on the theme of the exhibition, and the world pays close attention to the red-carpet outfits of the guests. The theme of the 2022 exhibition was “In America: Anthology of Fashion” and the dress code was “Gilded Glamour. While many celebrities appear on the red carpet each year in outlandish and unique costumes, last year’s event featured gorgeous, sparkling costumes that represented 19th-century American elegance, as well as sculptural silhouettes that continued the tradition.

Throughout his life, Lagerfeld designed not only for his eponymous brand, Karl Lagerfeld, but also for numerous other maisons, including Chanel and Fendi, as well as Patou, Balmain, and Chloé. The exhibition will feature more than 150 garments from all the maisons he worked with during his life, as well as his own brand, along with the sketches on which they were based. The venue will be designed by Tadao Ando, a leading Japanese architect known for works such as “Row House in Sumiyoshi” and “Church of the Light.”

Along with the celebrities’ outfits, the guest list at the Met Gala is the most noteworthy aspect of the event. Who will appear on the red carpet will not be revealed publicly until the night of the event, and is treated as a top secret. In this context, Beyoncé, Blake Lively, Lady Gaga, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Rihanna are known as regular guests at the Met Gala and are expected to attend again this year.
