L’Oréal buys Aēsop for $2.5 billion, the biggest acquisition ever

L’Oreal announced on April 3 that it has agreed to acquire the Australian skincare brand Aēsop from Natura & Co for approximately $2.5 billion. This deal is the biggest acquisition ever in company history.

Since 1987, Aēsop is an aspirational luxury brand that provides efficacious and sensorial products across multiple beauty and wellness categories, including hair, body, skin, home, and fragrance. Aēsop’s high-quality products accounted for about 8% of Natura’s revenues, making it the group’s most profitable business.

In L’Oréal Groupe’s statement, Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Hieronimus said, “Aēsop taps into all of today’s ascending currents and L’Oréal will contribute to unleash its massive growth potential, notably in China and Travel retail.”
