On April 18, Louis Vuitton presented the Pre-Fall 2024 Women’s Collection by Nicolas Ghesquière at the Voyager Show held at the Long Museum in Shanghai.
More than 1,000 guests, including ambassador Cate Blanchett and celebrity guests such as Jung Ho-yeon, Jackson Wang, and Jennifer Connelly, were invited to the event to see the latest collection.
For the Pre-Fall 2024 Women’s Collection, Ghesquière presents a bold, free-spirited fusion of color and form that pays homage to the noble elegance of the Maison’s roots and the dynamic fashion of China’s youth.
The show featured satin coats with large animal drawings from the first look, followed by animal motif characters such as swans and ducks in each subsequent look. These were the collaboration with young contemporary artist Sun Yitian, whose charming, figurative animal caricatures added dynamism to the contrasting silhouettes.
In addition, the sheer material hanging from the hem of the asymmetrically cut dress and the pleated skirt, which looked soft and smooth, brought a light and fresh feeling with every step. Other items included layered skirts in bright and gorgeous prints, pants in sheer flowing fabrics, and other urban and sophisticated items that Shanghai women would love.
Sophistication and daring come together in this collection, where conflicting silhouettes and prints combine to delight and harmonize.
For example, a satin dress with a free and bold over-the-shoulder top and extreme curves at the nape of the neck, with a skirt section that resembles a large flower bud.
Choosing an unconventional path always infuses things with a unique and brand-new passion. In his first “Voyager Show” in Shanghai, Ghesquière skillfully created a sense of unity by injecting a sense of freedom and playfulness into sophistication.
The Women’s Pre-Fall 2024 Collection will be available at Louis Vuitton stores worldwide from May 17, 2024.
