A Partnership Where Art and Fashion Converge

In recent years, destination cruise shows have evolved beyond runway presentations into large-scale cultural events that merge fashion with architecture, art, and local identity. Against this backdrop, The Frick Collection stands as one of New York’s most historically significant cultural institutions.

Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of Women’s Collections at Louis Vuitton, said in a statement: “Surrounded by masterpieces spanning from the Renaissance onward, we enter into conversation with a place where art, history and beauty have long been preserved and celebrated.”

He added: “It also marks the beginning of a meaningful relationship with an institution devoted to excellence and cultural heritage, further affirming Louis Vuitton’s commitment to engaging with art spaces that inspire and elevate creative expression.”

A Long-Term Cultural Partnership

Beyond the runway show itself, the partnership will extend into the museum’s cultural and educational programming. Beginning in June 2026 through May 2027, Louis Vuitton will support the Frick’s free evening program held on the first Friday of every month.

The brand will also serve as lead sponsor for the museum’s next three major special exhibitions. The first, “Siena, the Art of Bronze: 1450 to 1500,” is scheduled to open in October 2026, followed by a spring exhibition dedicated to French enameler Suzanne de Court.

Later in 2027, Louis Vuitton is also set to support a monographic exhibition focused on 19th-century paintings.

In addition, the house will fund a “Louis Vuitton Curatorial Research Associate” position for two years. The role will be held by Yifu Liu, whose research explores artistic exchange between Europe and China during the 18th century.

Originally the residence of industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick, The Frick Collection has been open to the public since 1935. The museum completed a multiyear renovation project last year, expanding and modernizing parts of the institution while preserving its historic character.

The museum’s collection includes decorative arts and fashion objects connected to the courts of Louis XV and Louis XVI, Qing Dynasty works from the era of the Qianlong Emperor, and Asian porcelain.

A Cruise Show Strategy Rooted in Architecture and Culture

Under Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s cruise shows have consistently been staged at locations known for their architectural and cultural significance. Notable venues have included the Palais des Papes in Avignon, France; Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain; the Museum of Contemporary Art Niterói in Brazil; Kyoto’s Miho Museum; and the TWA Flight Center in New York City.

While geopolitical uncertainty and concerns over an economic slowdown continue to impact the global luxury sector, the U.S. remains one of the industry’s most important growth markets. In 2026, major European luxury houses, including Dior and Gucci, are increasingly choosing the United States as the backdrop for their large-scale destination cruise shows, with Louis Vuitton’s latest presentation further reflecting that broader industry shift.
