In recent years, travel has become more than just a seasonal inspiration within luxury fashion. Particularly in resort collections, brands are increasingly using clothing to evoke not only a destination, but also the atmosphere, lifestyle, and emotions associated with it.
Against this backdrop, Michael Kors has unveiled a limited-edition capsule collection created in collaboration with Brooklyn-based artist Christina Zimpel. Inspired by the light and scenery of Saint-Tropez in the South of France, the collection reinterprets the brand’s signature “easy chic” aesthetic through bold, colorful illustrations and relaxed resort silhouettes.

A Collection That Captures the Mood of Summer
For the collaboration, Zimpel created two original artworks inspired by Saint-Tropez. One depicts a vibrant beach scene rendered in vivid blues and yellows, while the other offers a colorful interpretation of the town’s iconic bell tower in forest green, hot pink, orange, and white.
Rather than functioning as decorative prints alone, the artworks bring a sense of movement, warmth, and escapism to the collection. The illustrations appear across shirtdresses, matching cotton separates, sarongs, tote bags, bucket hats, and small leather accessories, creating a wardrobe designed for relaxed summer dressing.

Michael Kors said of the collaboration: “When I first came across Christina’s work years ago, I was drawn to the optimism and the joy in what she did. I also love that her work has such a strong sense of place; it instantly transports you. This summer felt like the right time for a wardrobe filled with that sunny, uplifting aesthetic.”
Australian-born Zimpel, who is currently based in Brooklyn, previously worked as an art director for both the Australian and American editions of Vogue before focusing full-time on painting and drawing.
Her work has appeared in publications including Vanity Fair, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, and Allure, and has been exhibited internationally.
Speaking about the project, Zimpel commented: “It was wonderful to work with Michael again! For this project, I tried to conjure up the pleasure of sitting at the perfect vantage spot on a perfect evening and feeling the joy that brings.”
While rooted in the imagery of Saint-Tropez, the collection ultimately reflects a broader mood of optimism and ease — qualities increasingly shaping contemporary luxury fashion.
The capsule is now available online at Michael Kors and at select Michael Kors stores worldwide.
