On July 10, Japanese lifestyle brand Onitsuka Tiger opened Onitsuka Tiger Shinjuku — one of the world’s largest global flagship stores — in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
The new store is conceived around a “vertical narrative” woven from material, colour and the meeting of Japanese and Italian design cultures. As visitors ascend from floor to floor, different materials and spatial expressions emerge, drawing the brand’s world — from Heritage through Contemporary to Formality — as a single architectural experience.

A Tiger-Yellow Monolith Rises in Shinjuku
The exterior of Onitsuka Tiger Shinjuku is conceived as a monolith standing within the contemporary city, defined by a bold tiger-yellow concrete façade. Flat surfaces are combined with striped textures to express material honesty, rhythm and precision — an homage to Japanese craftsmanship and the dynamic urbanity of Tokyo. This striking yellow façade announces itself as a new landmark in Shinjuku and marks the beginning of the experience that continues inside.
Spanning 1,837 square metres across four floors, the store carries every line of the brand: “Heritage (Onitsuka Tiger),” a contemporary reinterpretation of the archive; “Contemporary (ONITSUKA TIGER),” the collection presented at Milan Fashion Week; and “Formality (THE ONITSUKA),” the formal footwear category.

A Floor-by-Floor Story Told in Material and Colour
Step onto the ground floor and a striking interplay of powerful materials and colour welcomes you. Black flooring is paired with warm Giallo Siena marble, expressing Onitsuka Tiger’s signature palette with both energy and refinement. Essential lines and tactile materials reflect the aesthetics of Japanese design, while the contrast of black and yellow creates a space that feels modern and dynamic.
On the second floor, a base of black terrazzo — its stone grain punctuated by yellow accents — opens onto a more graphic, dynamic world. Light lends the space rhythm and depth, expressing the sense of movement at the brand’s core. Here, the area dedicated to the globally beloved “NIPPON MADE” series is furnished with pieces inspired by 1970s Italian design, their warmth and character setting off the brand’s contemporary sensibility and its timeless craftsmanship.

The third floor is a calm, refined space inspired by the quiet elegance of Japanese interiors. Rosso Lepanto marble, satin brass and satin-finished steel create a sophisticated contrast of materials. Geometric forms and gallery-like displays come together to form a space where the brand’s signature collections can be experienced at leisure.

The Brand’s First Amusement Area
On M2F, Onitsuka Tiger introduces its first-ever amusement area, offering an entirely new kind of store experience — realised in collaboration with GENDA GiGO Entertainment.
Onitsuka Tiger regards its stores as places to experience the brand’s values and story. As the world’s largest global flagship, embodying both heritage and innovation and presenting every one of the brand’s categories, the store will continue to offer new experiences to customers around the world.
