Peter Do to Launch Limited Edition Collection with Banana Republic

Peter Do, a brand synonymous with quiet luxury will collaborate with Banana Republic to launch an exclusive capsule collection in October.

In recent years, Peter Do has become one of New York’s most sought-after emerging fashion designers, with a passion for its elegant and sophisticated vision of womenswear inspired by Phoebe Philo. Do graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York in 2014, where he received the LVMH Graduate Award. He then joined the design team of Céline by Furby Philo, where he gained experience in creating runway collections; in 2018, he launched his eponymous brand, which offers women’s Ready-To-Wear that is always new, sophisticated, and of the highest quality. He was also recently appointed Creative Director of Helmut Lang.

The limited-edition collection that the two brands have come together to create has been called the most outstanding collaboration in Banana Republic’s history and comes as the company seeks to promote “brand transformation.” For example, the brand had a low-key runway show at New York Fashion Week and once partnered with the CFDA and designer Greg Lauren to offer distressed menswear.

However, Peter Do’s presence is the most high-profile designer to date for Banana Republic, especially because they have acquired a talented creator who is currently setting fashion trends.

“Designed by Peter Do with inspiration pulled from the Banana Republic archives, the capsule includes transformational and genderful ready-to-wear pieces and accessories in Peter Do’s signature neutral color palette, brought to life in Banana Republic’s classic silhouettes,” the brand said in a press release.

Banana Republic’s signature “form-reinvented collection” is fused with the modern style codes created by Peter Do, reflected in utility-oriented outerwear, silk shirts, cutout suit jackets, tailored pants, and fine knitwear that will be a must-have wardrobe for fall.

In the past, Do has been reluctant to expose himself to the media, while his brand has been heavily in the spotlight. However, he has shown a willingness to collaborate on projects such as the Banana Republic collection, partnership with Farfetch and Opening Ceremony, and the At.Kollective project.

The limited-edition collection resulting from the Peter Doe and Banana Republic collaboration will be available online and at select Banana Republic stores this October.
