Simone Rocha to be Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Next Guest Couturier

Designer Simone Rocha has announced that she will be the guest couturier for Jean-Paul Gaultier’s next couture collection to be held in Paris next January.

Born in Ireland and based in London, Simone Rocha started her eponymous brand “Simone Rocha” in 2010. Since then, she has collaborated with various big brands such as Top Shop, J Brand, and H&M.

On the 17th of this month, Simone Rocha presented its Spring/Summer 2024 collection at London Fashion Week. The collection, titled “Dress Rehearsal,” was presented at the English National Ballet’s rehearsal space in Canary Wharf, east London. One of the highlights of the fashion week was Rocha’s romanticism and the exquisite use of fabrics and rich embellishment which was inspired by the legend of “The Ark of Kilbaha.”

Meanwhile, fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier retired after presenting his haute couture collection in January 2020 and has been continuing its haute couture form of inviting prominent designers as guests starting in July 2021. Gaultier’s collaborative couture collection was first presented by guest couturier Chitose Abe of SACAI, followed by Glenn Martens, Olivier Rousteing, and most recently Haider Ackermann. Rocha is the sixth guest couturier for the Maison.

Rocha announced this upcoming collaboration by posting a bouquet of flowers and a signed card presented by Gaultier on her Instagram two days after she unveiled Simone Rocha’s latest collection. The card includes a sketch of a portrait of Gaultier himself in a striped top, along with the words, “Congratulations on your show, and see you on your next one…. in PARIS !!!! Jean-Paul Gaultier.”
