SOSHIOTSUKI Spring/Summer 2027 : “The Persistence of Memory” and the Shape of Unlived Memories

SOSHIOTSUKI Spring/Summer 2027

On June 27, SOSHIOTSUKI unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, “The Persistence of Memory,” during Paris Fashion Week Men’s.

Designed by Soshi Otsuki, the collection explores the concept of memory as the foundation of the brand’s creative philosophy—not only personal recollections, but also memories inherited through photographs, films, and stories from others. This season, Otsuki drew inspiration from a sense of nostalgia for a resort he has never experienced, transforming imagined memories into contemporary menswear.

Reconstructing the Idea of a Resort Through Clothing

The collection was inspired by the image of the designer’s father behaving differently while on vacation—a rare moment of spontaneity brought on by the freedom of travel. Details such as a shirt with one collar flipped outward, shorts that refuse to close completely, and visible trunks were reimagined not as styling choices, but as intentional elements built directly into the garments’ construction.

On the runway, relaxed resort dressing coexisted effortlessly with refined tailoring. Lightweight shirts, shorts, softly structured jackets, and relaxed trousers were presented in a muted palette of pale blue, light green, ecru, gray, and brown. Curved shirt collars, sculpted lapels, and subtly distorted waist details conveyed an understated sense of imperfection, capturing the quiet ease and spontaneity associated with time away from everyday life.

The collection also introduced curved lapels and belts inspired by the letter “S,” the brand’s initial. Rather than relying on styling, these details are embedded into the garments through patternmaking and internal construction, allowing moments of imperfection and human charm to emerge naturally.

Soft Tailoring Designed to Appear Soft

This season also presents a new interpretation of SOSHIOTSUKI’s signature approach to soft tailoring.

Rather than achieving softness through lightweight construction or the removal of canvassing and shoulder padding, the brand reexamined the very structure of the garment. Redesigned canvases, refined patternmaking, dramatically rolled lapels, metal-reinforced belts, and molded collar stays create flowing curves that appear to have naturally collapsed under gravity.

The concept draws inspiration from the works of Spanish artist Salvador Dalí. Translating the visual paradox of solid objects appearing to melt, SOSHIOTSUKI reinterprets the idea through tailoring. While the garments are carefully supported by internal structures, they are designed to appear as though they have softened and naturally deformed over time—creating tailoring that is not inherently soft, but visually perceived as such.

The collection also features original fabrics alongside reproductions of textiles dating back more than twenty years, all produced in Japan.

Piece-dyed wool and linen combine different warp and weft yarns to create visual depth, while cotton fabrics undergo garment dyeing and washing processes that evoke the passage of time. The color palette likewise emphasizes age over vitality, featuring sun-faded beige, clay-like reddish brown, and washed-out sax blue tones reminiscent of materials weathered by light and air.

Five Collaborative Projects Expand the Collection

Collaboration also played a significant role this season, further enriching the collection’s narrative.

SOSHIOTSUKI introduced the new GEL-AXIS FF sneaker in collaboration with ASICS SportStyle. The brand also partnered with Sanyo Yamacho on Gurkha sandals inspired by classic dress shoes, SANYOCOAT on a water-repellent long coat, blackmeans on a leather jacket, and jewelry designer KOTA OKUDA on a range of accessories including tie clips, cufflinks, belts, and custom collar stays.

The final looks shifted toward a monochromatic palette of black and white, bringing the collection to a quiet conclusion. Throughout the season, SOSHIOTSUKI presented a wardrobe where refined dandyism coexists with subtle imperfections, revealing a distinctly human sense of elegance.
