On June 20, Tiffany & Co. hosted an exclusive performance at Tokyo’s historic Kabuki-za Theater to commemorate the upcoming grand opening of its new Ginza flagship store, scheduled to open on July 11.
For one magical night, the exterior of the Kabuki-za was illuminated in Tiffany Blue®, with the traditional phoenix lanterns at the entrance also transformed into the brand’s signature hue. This striking visual display served not only as a tribute to Edo-period culture but also as a symbolic prologue to Tiffany’s new chapter in Japan.
The evening featured a special performance of “June Grand Kabuki,” including the naming ceremonies of legendary actors Onoe Kikugorō VIII and Onoe Kikunosuke VI of the prestigious Otowaya acting lineage. The event created a powerful dialogue between Tiffany’s timeless elegance and the richness of Japanese tradition.
“Kabuki lanterns in Tiffany Blue are a historic first, and they were truly beautiful,” said Onoe Kikugorō VIII. “This month, the celebratory stage curtain gifted by Tiffany has given me courage every day. Just like the bold chrysanthemum depicted on it, I’ve felt inspired to stand tall. I am truly grateful for the warm applause and support tonight.”
Since it arrived in Japan in 1972, Tiffany & Co. has cultivated a deep and lasting relationship with the Japanese market. The opening of Tiffany Ginza marks a new and symbolic milestone in this ongoing legacy.
