Heritage & Origins
Boucheron was founded in 1858 by Frédéric Boucheron in the Palais Royal, Paris. In 1893, the house became the first of the great jewelers to establish itself on Place Vendôme, at number 26, where it remains to this day. The maison’s innovative spirit was evident from the start, with Frédéric pioneering the use of mixed materials and nature-inspired designs that broke with the rigid conventions of nineteenth-century jewelry.
Design Philosophy & Innovation
Boucheron’s design philosophy celebrates the boldness of nature, architectural forms, and artistic innovation. Under Creative Director Claire Choisne, the house has pushed boundaries with high jewelry collections featuring unconventional materials such as aerogel, holographic rock crystal, and sand. The maison’s Quatre collection, with its signature four-motif ring, has become an icon of modern jewelry design.
Cultural Impact & Legacy
Boucheron has adorned royalty and aristocracy for over 160 years, from the Maharajas of India to European royal houses. The maison’s archives, containing thousands of original sketches and designs, represent an invaluable record of jewelry history. As part of Kering’s luxury division, Boucheron continues to honor its heritage while embracing contemporary creativity and sustainable practices.
