From Mountain to Metropolis

Moncler was founded in 1952 in Monestier-de-Clermont, near Grenoble, France, originally producing quilted sleeping bags and tents for mountaineers. The brand equipped the 1954 Italian Karakorum K2 expedition and the 1955 French Makalu expedition, establishing its credentials in high-performance outerwear before becoming a symbol of alpine luxury.

Genius Project

Under CEO Remo Ruffini’s visionary leadership, Moncler launched the Genius project in 2018, inviting different designers to create monthly collections that reinterpret the brand’s DNA. This innovative model has kept Moncler at the forefront of cultural conversation and creative relevance in the luxury market.

Strategic Expansion

Moncler acquired Stone Island in 2020, expanding its portfolio in the luxury outerwear and sportswear segment. The combined group represents one of the most commercially successful stories in contemporary luxury, with Ruffini’s strategic vision transforming Moncler from a niche outerwear brand into a global luxury powerhouse.
