The French luxury house Dior will present a new exhibition, “Christian Dior: Memories of Childhood,” from April 4 to November 1, 2026, in the coastal town of Granville, located in northwestern France. The exhibition will take place at the Musée Christian Dior, the former home of the founder, Christian Dior.

Granville, overlooking the English Channel with views toward the Channel Islands, is a seaside town whose serene coastal landscape and distinctive palette of gray and pink are widely recognized as the foundation of Dior’s aesthetic. In particular, his childhood home, Les Rhumbs, stands as a symbolic site where the color codes and sensibilities that would later define the house were first cultivated.

Following the success of the previous exhibition “Dior, Jardins Enchanteurs,” this new presentation is part of the house’s 80th anniversary celebrations, marking its founding in 1946. The exhibition traces Dior’s memories from childhood through early adulthood in this seaside setting, offering visitors an immersive experience into the origins of his creative vision.

Bringing together approximately 250 archival pieces—including dresses, fragrances, and photographs—the exhibition highlights a formative period in Dior’s life. These works illuminate the intersection between his personal memories and the aesthetic language of the maison.

The exhibition also explores the environment and values that shaped his creativity. The gardens of Les Rhumbs, described as a “lush Eden,” served as a place of comfort for Dior, where he inherited a deep love of nature from his mother and an entrepreneurial spirit from his father. His fascination with carnivals, casinos, and ball gowns—nurtured during his youth—would go on to influence his design philosophy in lasting ways.

From the upper floors of the house, views of Jersey in the Channel Islands sparked Dior’s enduring appreciation for British culture. This influence can be seen in his later work, from costume design to beachwear and the integration of British elements into his collections.

Ultimately, the exhibition goes beyond a retrospective. It reexamines how the aesthetic foundations of Dior were formed and continuously reinterpreted by successive creative directors, offering a deeper understanding of the enduring creative essence of the house.
