Studio Ascenti: A Vision for the Future of Footwear

Since its founding in 1952, Moncler has built its identity around protecting people in extreme mountain environments. While the brand remains synonymous with luxury outerwear, it has increasingly expanded its focus on footwear, positioning the category as a key area of growth.

Conceived as an interactive design laboratory, Studio Ascenti offers visitors an inside look at the creative and technical processes behind Moncler’s footwear development. The event explores the brand’s vision across three interconnected environments—mountains, cities, and the trails that connect them—demonstrating how outdoor performance technologies can be translated into contemporary lifestyles.

Trailgrip Ultra: The Lightest Trailgrip Yet

One of the key highlights of the exhibition is the exclusive preview of the Trailgrip Ultra, introduced as part of Moncler’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

Developed with insights from mountain athletes and outdoor communities, the model represents the lightest version of the Trailgrip franchise to date. Designed for high-altitude performance, it combines advanced engineering with lightweight construction.

The shoe features a supercritical foam midsole for cushioning and energy return, paired with a carbon-fiber wing plate for enhanced stability. Underfoot, a Vibram® Megagrip outsole with Traction Lug technology delivers superior grip across challenging terrain. The upper combines Dyneema fabric with seamless Clarino Tirrenina overlays, while a GORE-TEX waterproof lining provides protection from the elements.

Citytrek: Built for Urban Exploration

Moncler also introduced the Citytrek, a new footwear model designed for city environments.

Featuring a brushed suede upper, breathable Cordura mesh panels, and a tailored leather collar, the silhouette blends comfort and durability. A performance-oriented midsole and Vibram® outsole ensure versatility throughout daily urban activities.

Four Collaborations Expanding the Footwear Universe

Alongside its new in-house designs, Moncler unveiled four collaborative projects that reinterpret outdoor functionality through distinct creative perspectives.

Moncler Trailgrip Clarks Wallabee GTX

Created in partnership with Clarks, the Trailgrip Clarks Wallabee GTX reimagines the iconic Wallabee through a mountain-ready lens. The design combines the moccasin-inspired silhouette with a GORE-TEX lining and a specially engineered Vibram® outsole.

Moncler Trailgrip Megalace Boot by Rick Owens

Continuing its collaboration with Rick Owens, Moncler presented the Trailgrip Megalace Boot. The design merges Moncler’s performance-focused construction with Owens’ signature avant-garde aesthetic, featuring layered upper panels, sculptural proportions, and a dramatic rear-lacing system.

Moon Boot x Moncler Grenoble Icon High Rodeo

Originally developed for the Moncler Grenoble runway presentation in Aspen, the Icon High Rodeo combines the functionality of a snow boot with the distinctive character of a cowboy boot. Crafted from suede with nubuck inserts, the design is elevated through embroidered detailing and premium nappa leather accents.

Fragment Design by Hiroshi Fujiwara

Moncler also previewed a new project with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design. The collaboration reinterprets the Trailgrip Clarks Wallabee GTX and Altive Mid Boot through Fragment’s minimalist lens, blending mountain utility with metropolitan aesthetics. Both styles are scheduled to launch in September 2026 alongside a new ready-to-wear collection.
