Meta and Oakley Unveil “Oakley Meta Glasses,” a New Category of Performance AI Eyewear

Oakley Meta Glasses

On June 20, Meta announced a new collaboration with Oakley, introducing a brand-new product category: Oakley Meta Glasses, a performance AI eyewear designed to unlock human potential through the fusion of sports and technology.

Since its founding in 1975, Oakley has revolutionized the world of sports through its innovative designs and functionality. With Meta, the company now aims to bring that legacy into the AI era by jointly developing a smart glasses line that embodies the vision of enhancing human capability.

The first product in the lineup is Oakley Meta HSTN, based on Oakley’s popular HSTN frame. Fusing cutting-edge AI features with durable construction for athletic use, this device represents the next evolution in performance wearables. The global campaign features high-profile athletes including Kylian Mbappé, World Cup champion, and Patrick Mahomes, three-time Super Bowl MVP.

Hands-Free Recording, Seamless Connection

The Oakley Meta HSTN offers a 3K high-resolution camera, powerful open-ear speakers, and IPX4 water resistance—clearly positioning it as next-generation performance eyewear. These features enable athletes to record, stream, and control their experience entirely hands-free, even during intense training or competition.

The battery supports up to 8 hours of continuous use, with a quick charge delivering 50% power in just 20 minutes. With the included charging case, users can extend usage by up to 48 additional hours, offering practical value for everyday athletes and professionals alike.

Built-in Meta AI enhances functionality even further. Simply say, “Hey Meta, how strong is the wind today?” to get real-time environmental updates. Or say, “Hey Meta, take a video,” to effortlessly record skateboarding tricks or golf swings, making performance and content creation truly seamless.

Where Design Meets Function

Select models of Oakley Meta HSTN are equipped with Oakley’s signature PRIZM lens technology, which enhances contrast and color by fine-tuning light wavelengths. Designed to maintain visibility in dynamic weather and lighting conditions, the lenses help athletes see more clearly and react faster—supporting peak performance in every situation.

The product is available in six frame and lens color combinations, including Warm Grey, Black, Brown Smoke, and Clear—all prescription-ready. A limited-edition model celebrating Oakley’s 50th anniversary is also available, featuring 24K gold PRIZM Polar lenses.

Expanding the AI Glasses Market

Meta’s previous collaboration with Ray-Ban resulted in the globally successful Ray-Ban Meta, which has already sold millions of units. The Oakley partnership marks a strategic expansion from lifestyle use cases to high-performance, sport-centric applications.

Caio Amato, Global President of Oakley, commented: “For 50 years, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of what is possible, obsessed with solving unsolved problems. Together with Meta we are setting new bounds of reality—It is not only about pushing forward performance, but also about amplifying human potential as never before. And this is just the first chapter of a new era for sports.”

Rocco Basilico, Chief Wearables Officer at EssilorLuxottica, also shared: “This marks a bold new chapter in our wearables journey. With Oakley’s iconic design legacy and Meta’s breakthroughs in AI and spatial computing, we’re setting a new standard for the industry.”

The Oakley Meta HSTN will be available for preorder starting July 11, 2025, at $499 USD for the limited edition. Standard models will launch later in the summer starting at $399 USD.
