Roman Artistry
Founded in Rome in 1925 as a fur and leather goods shop, Fendi grew into a global luxury powerhouse under the direction of the five Fendi sisters and the legendary Karl Lagerfeld, who served as creative director for an extraordinary 54 years until his death in 2019. Lagerfeld’s revolutionary approach to fur and his creation of the iconic double-F logo transformed the house.
Iconic Accessories
The Fendi Baguette, introduced in 1997, became fashion’s first ‘It bag’ and a pop culture phenomenon thanks to its appearance on Sex and the City. The Peekaboo bag followed as another modern classic. Fendi’s accessories continue to drive the brand’s commercial success.
Creative Continuity
Kim Jones, appointed artistic director of couture and womenswear in 2020, has brought his collaborative spirit and cultural fluency to the Roman house while maintaining Fendi’s emphasis on Italian craftsmanship and artisanal excellence. The brand’s headquarters at the Palazzo della Civilta Italiana in Rome’s EUR district has become an architectural symbol.
