Heritage & Origins
Hubert de Givenchy founded his couture house in 1952, quickly establishing a reputation for aristocratic elegance and refined simplicity. His legendary friendship and creative partnership with Audrey Hepburn produced some of fashion’s most iconic moments, including the little black dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Design Philosophy & Innovation
The house has been shaped by a diverse roster of creative directors, including Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Riccardo Tisci, Clare Waight Keller, and Matthew Williams. In 2024, Sarah Burton, formerly of Alexander McQueen, was appointed creative director, bringing her masterful tailoring and romantic sensibility to the Parisian house.
Cultural Impact & Legacy
As part of the LVMH group, Givenchy continues to balance its haute couture heritage with contemporary relevance. The brand’s beauty division, particularly its perfume and cosmetics lines, represents a significant part of its global business, while its ready-to-wear and accessories collections maintain the house’s position among fashion’s most storied maisons.
