Burberry is probably the hottest brand at London Fashion Week, which runs from February 17 to 21. Today, the brand presented its first collection since the appointment of Daniel Lee as Chief Creative Officer last October.

Daniel Lee is the former creative director of Bottega Veneta, a talented designer who has proposed a new style for a brand that had lost its momentum and created numerous hit products. He is also the creator of Bottega Veneta’s signature color, “Bottega Green,” which is now well-established.

Despite his remarkable achievements, he left Bottega Veneta in 2021, and there was great interest and expectation for what he would create at the new Burberry. In addition, a few weeks before the launch of the new collection, the brand abruptly deleted all posts on its official Instagram, and the next day Lee’s newly created and rebranded Burberry logo and visuals were unveiled.

Today’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection opened with two classic Burberry Trench coats. Both are heritage green, women’s styles with shiny shearling collars, belts, and epaulets, showing the respect Lee pays to what the brand has created so far.

This was followed by striking pieces such as skin-tight tops, wool pants, wool duffle coats, and accessories, each of which was boldly printed with the brand’s iconic Burberry check. The collection is further accented with vivid colors such as mustard yellow, purple, blue, and rose red.

Another new element incorporated into the collection was the rose. A graphic T-shirt that read, “Not all roses are red,” featured a print of blue roses instead of red. A dress in a mixture of mustard yellow and purple, and purple and black, respectively, had a rose peplum made of fabric around its neck and waist.

In addition to this, feathers and faux fur added further glamour to the collection. Knee-length coats and tops with colorful feathers, as well as hoods, bags, and shoes with faux fur, gave the collection a deep and gorgeous autumn/winter feel.

Lee has always been good at wowing people with accessories, but this time he also introduced unique items that would become Burberry’s new “It Bag”. Leather and faux fur trimmed, clutch bags shaped like hot water bottles in bold Burberry checks, metal dangling evening purses, and huge duffels and tote bags, some of which even came with bushy fox tails.

We cannot take our eyes off New Burberry in the future, which is moving in a new direction by Lee while preserving the brand’s traditions to date.
