American casualwear brand Gap has unveiled two limited-edition collections created in collaboration with Ouigi Theodore, founder of the Brooklyn-based lifestyle brand The Brooklyn Circus.

Launching on May 30, 2026, the project explores football as a cultural force that connects global communities, immigrant identities, heritage, and fashion.

Summary

  • Gap unveiled two limited-edition collections created in collaboration with Ouigi Theodore
  • “The OuiGap” and “team merchandise” collections will launch on May 30, 2026
  • The collections explore the connection between football, community, heritage, and culture
  • “The OuiGap” incorporates the “74” motif as a tribute to Haiti’s historic 1974 national football team
  • Gap and Ouigi Theodore will also host a New York community event celebrating football, music, and fashion this summer

The project includes two separate collections: “The OuiGap” and “team merchandise.” Creative direction for “The OuiGap” was led by Theodore, blending the energy and unity of football culture with Gap’s signature heritage-inspired aesthetic.

The collection features jerseys, T-shirts, coordinated separates, and other elevated sportswear pieces marked throughout with the recurring “74” motif. The number references Haiti’s historic 1974 national football team — a deeply personal symbol for Theodore, who was born in Haiti that same year.

After later moving to the United States, Theodore grew up between Haitian heritage and New York culture, with football remaining a defining part of his identity and creative imagination. Through the collection, he merges personal memory with global storytelling, connecting diaspora, sport, music, and style through fashion.

Gap President and CEO Mark Breitbard commented on the collaboration: “Ouigi Theodore is a true collaborator and a culture shifter who understands that fashion is most powerful when it tells a story. This collection bridges the gap between heritage style and the electric energy of football fandom and offers fans a way to express their passion with both soul and originality.”

Meanwhile, Theodore stated: “There’s something powerful about seeing global sport, heritage, fashion, and art come together. The collection we designed with Gap was created in that spirit. I became a designer to tell stories with history, meaning, and a future. Ayiti to the Future.”

A Global Football Capsule Rooted in Community

The “team merchandise” collection further expands on football’s global influence through pieces inspired by national teams including the United States, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, France, Spain, and England. The assortment includes T-shirts, hoodies, jerseys, hats, and kidswear designed for international football fans.

Campaign visuals were creative directed by Theodore and photographed by Ackime Snow, centering around Theodore’s concept of the “global village.” The campaign features a globally diverse cast representing their heritage, style, and pride for their respective teams.

Gap and Theodore are also set to host a community event in New York this summer alongside the season’s major global football tournament. Bringing together fashion, music, sport, and culture, the event is expected to further embody the spirit of the “global village.”
