Comité Colbert, the official body representing the French luxury industry, will present a special exhibition titled “Hidden Treasures: 250 Years of Franco-American Luxury Stories” in New York. The exhibition explores 250 years of cultural exchange between France and the United States through the lens of luxury, bringing together historical heritage and contemporary creations in a cross-disciplinary showcase.
The exhibition will take place at the Tisch Skylights at The Shed, a cultural venue in New York City. It will run for six days only, from May 26 to May 31, 2026, with a media preview scheduled for 9:00 AM on the opening day.
A total of 65 leading French luxury maisons and cultural institutions will participate. Each participant will present a “Hidden Treasure” within shipping crates, offering a unique interpretation of their history and creative identity. Visitors will experience the exhibition as if uncovering valuable objects in transit, tracing the artistic dialogue between France and the United States.
The exhibition will feature a wide range of pieces, from historic jewelry and haute couture to one-of-a-kind design objects. Rare archival items and iconic products—many of which are not typically on public display—will be brought together, offering a clear and engaging view of the evolution of French savoir-faire and creative excellence.
Participating maisons include Baccarat, Balenciaga, Boucheron, Chanel, Celine, Cartier, Dior, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Veuve Clicquot, among others. Cultural institutions such as Musée du Louvre, Château de Versailles, and La Tour Eiffel will also take part, highlighting the relationship between national heritage and luxury craftsmanship.
Tickets went on sale on April 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM ET. General admission is priced at $35 (plus fees), with free entry available for students.
Founded in 1954 at the initiative of Jean-Jacques Guerlain, Comité Colbert today brings together 96 French luxury maisons, 17 cultural institutions, and 6 European luxury houses. Spanning 14 sectors—including perfumery, jewelry, fashion, gastronomy, and design—the organization is dedicated to promoting and preserving French savoir-faire on a global scale.
This exhibition can be seen as an extension of those efforts. More than a presentation of archival works, it connects past and present to illustrate how French luxury has transcended borders and been embraced as a cultural value across generations.
