【MET GALA 2023】Celebrities’ Red Carpet Outfits Dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld

On May 1, MET GALA 2023, the biggest celebration of the fashion world, was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The Met Gala, organized by Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue since 1995, is the opening event celebrating The Costume Institute’s annual special exhibition. To celebrate this year’s exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” guests were given the dress code, “in honor of Karl.”

Lagerfeld, known as the “king of Fashion” was one of the greatest designers who had designed for many maisons, including his eponymous brand Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel, and Fendi.

Before the date of the MET GALA 2023 took place, all long-established luxury department stores and brand boutiques in New York such as Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, and Fendi, paid homage to Lagerfeld by displaying dresses from the Lagerfeld archives in their show windows and displays. Many people also gathered in front of the venue from around midday to catch a glimpse of the celebrities who would appear at the MET GALA.

This year, led by Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue magazine, Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa were co-hosts of the night.

The gala does not reveal who was invited as a guest until the night of the event, but this year Jennie from Black Pink attended for the first time. Also in attendance were Lily Collins and Ashley Park, who star in the popular Netflix drama “Emily in Paris,” and Margot Robbie, who plays the lead role of Barbie in the movie “Barbie.

The celebrities who gathered at the event interpreted and expressed Karl’s worldview in their own way. Dua Lipa, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Jennie of Black Pink, and many other celebrities were seen wearing “Chanel” archives as a tribute to the creations left by Lagerfeld. Jared Leto also made a big splash, appearing in a costume of Lagerfeld’s iconic beloved cat “Choupette,” and Doja Cat showed up in a Swarovski-filled cat look by Oscar de la Renta.
