On April 22, Vancouver-based athletic apparel brand lululemon announced the appointment of Heidi O’Neill as its next Chief Executive Officer. She will assume the role on September 8, 2026, and will also join the company’s Board of Directors. She will be based in Vancouver.

The appointment follows a comprehensive search process conducted by the company, with O’Neill expected to lead lululemon into its next phase of growth.

Track Record in Driving Brand Growth

O’Neill brings more than three decades of experience across sports, apparel, and footwear. During her more than 25-year tenure at Nike, she played a central role in the company’s expansion from a business of approximately $9 billion to over $45 billion. She has led a wide range of functions, including product development, brand strategy, digital, and global market operations, strengthening consumer connections and elevating brand value. She also serves on the boards of companies such as Spotify and Hyatt Hotels, bringing additional cross-industry leadership perspective.

Marti Morfitt, Executive Chair of lululemon’s Board, commented on the appointment:
“She is a rare leader who possesses both the ability to envision the future of a brand and to build the structure and processes needed to deliver on that vision.”

Morfitt further added that O’Neill’s “proven track record of executing innovative ideas at scale, as well as her ability to drive transformation and growth,” were key reasons for her selection, expressing strong confidence in her leadership for the company’s next phase.

O’Neill also shared her perspective on the appointment, stating: “lululemon is an iconic brand with something rare: genuine guest love, a product ethos rooted in innovation, and a global platform still in the early stages of its potential.”

Regarding her strategic direction, she added: “I will focus on accelerating product breakthroughs, deepening the brand’s cultural relevance, and unlocking growth in markets around the world,” signaling a growth strategy centered on both product and brand evolution.

Transition Period and Leadership Structure

In the interim, co-CEOs Meghan Frank and André Maestrini will continue to lead the company until O’Neill officially assumes the role. Following her appointment, both are expected to return to their previous senior leadership positions and work closely with the new CEO to drive the company forward.

lululemon continues to focus on strengthening product innovation and enhancing brand experience to unlock further growth opportunities. This CEO appointment marks a key strategic decision at the core of that ambition.
