On May 28, French luxury maison Lanvin announced the appointment of Barbara Werschine as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Succeeding Andy Lew, who previously served as CEO, Werschine will oversee the brand’s global strategy and accelerate its next phase of growth.
Summary
- Lanvin has appointed Barbara Werschine as its new CEO
- Werschine previously served as CEO of Eric Bompard and held leadership roles at Hermès and other luxury houses
- She will oversee Lanvin’s global strategy, business acceleration, and international positioning
- Werschine will work closely with Peter Copping to strengthen both womenswear and menswear
- Lanvin is also planning to expand further into the home and lifestyle categories as part of its next chapter
The appointment is being viewed as a symbolic move marking the next phase of Lanvin’s ongoing transformation. In particular, the maison appears set to further redefine itself beyond fashion alone, positioning Lanvin more broadly as a lifestyle-driven luxury brand.
Most recently, Werschine served as CEO of French cashmere label Eric Bompard, leading the company from 2020 to 2024. According to Lanvin, she “successfully modernised the brand and optimised its financial performance” during her tenure.
Prior to that, Werschine spent nearly seven years at Hermès, including five years as Director of Leather Goods Collections and a member of the executive committee. She has also held leadership and business development roles at Zadig & Voltaire, Celine, and Louis Vuitton.
In an official statement, Lanvin described Werschine as a leader with “extensive expertise and distinguished track record in the luxury industry.” The maison further stated that her appointment reflects its intention to “open a new chapter” by combining Lanvin’s rich heritage with a modern and ambitious growth strategy.
Going forward, Werschine will work closely with Artistic Director Peter Copping, who joined the house in September 2024. His Winter 2026 collection, presented in Paris, was widely viewed as an important milestone in Lanvin’s revival, particularly in establishing a renewed foundation for women’s ready-to-wear.
Lanvin’s strategic roadmap also includes strengthening its menswear category while expanding into home and lifestyle-related sectors. The move signals the brand’s intention to reconnect not only with its couture heritage, but also with its historical identity as a broader lifestyle maison.
Meanwhile, Andy Lew will now focus fully on his role as Executive President of Lanvin Group, which oversees a portfolio including Lanvin, Wolford, Sergio Rossi, and St. John Knits.
